OpenDoors Pronunciation Coach is a WordPress plugin that gives English learners a simple, friendly place to practise speaking. Students hear a model, record themselves, see which words were recognised, and read clear tips for fixing common mistakes.

The plugin includes seven ready-made practice sets with about 40 words and sentences: TH sounds, final consonants, short and long I, -ed and -s endings, word stress, S and SH, and everyday sentences. Each item shows the IPA transcription and a short, practical tip, with extra attention to sounds that Vietnamese-speaking learners often find difficult.

Learners can listen to a model in an American or British accent, at normal or slow speed. They can then record their voice and play it back to compare by ear. In supported browsers, the plugin also checks what was said, scores the word match, and marks every word with a tick or a cross so students know exactly what to repeat. The best score for each item is saved on the student’s device.

All of this works without any API key. For personal coaching, connect your own OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini) key and students can request short AI feedback after each try. Only text is sent to the AI, never audio, and API keys stay safely on your server. You decide who can use AI feedback, and an hourly limit per user helps keep costs predictable. If no key is set, the plugin simply tells students that AI feedback is off while everything else keeps working.
