ELT Material Maker: lesson plans, worksheets and tests for English teachers, inside WordPress
ELT Material Maker is a WordPress plugin that helps English teachers prepare classes faster. Instead of spending evenings building worksheets from scratch, you enter a topic, choose a CEFR level from A1 to C1, set the lesson length, and get a ready-to-edit draft in seconds.
The plugin creates four types of material. Lesson plans follow the PPP framework and include objectives, a timed stage table, practice activities and teacher notes on common mistakes. Worksheets mix gap-fill, multiple choice, sentence ordering and transformation exercises, with an answer key. Tests include vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing sections with scoring and marking notes. Reading materials come with a short level-appropriate text, a glossary, comprehension questions and answers.
You stay in control of the technology. Connect your own OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini) API key, switch providers whenever you like, and pay only for what you use. Keys stay on your server and never appear in the browser. A per-user hourly limit helps you keep costs predictable.
Not ready to add a key? Four built-in samples work instantly with no API at all, so you and your students can explore the tool first. When no key is set, the plugin clearly tells visitors that only samples are available.
Place the tool anywhere with a simple shortcode, or use it from the WordPress admin menu. Built-in tables, headings and lists keep the output clean and easy to edit before class. Results can be copied or downloaded as Markdown and pasted into your favourite document editor.
