Description
Turn Any Lesson into a Complete English Test in Minutes
Every English teacher knows the feeling: the lesson went well, the students are ready, and now the test has to be written. Choosing vocabulary, inventing grammar items, scripting a listening exercise and designing a writing task can easily take a whole evening. English Test Generator is a desktop tool built to take that workload off your shoulders.
How it works
Start with the material you already have. Upload a lesson or a book chapter as a PDF, Word (DOCX) or text file, and the app automatically splits it into units. Choose the sections you want, pick a CEFR level from A1 to C1, decide how many questions you need, and click Generate. Within moments you have a draft test based on your own teaching material, not generic exercises. No retyping or copying is needed.
Four skills, one click
Vocabulary: multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions built around words from your lesson.
Grammar: multiple-choice, gap-fill and error-correction items that practise the structures your students have just studied.
Listening: a short dialogue or monologue written at the right level, followed by comprehension questions. The script can be turned into audio with natural online voices, or with voices already installed on your computer.
Writing: a clear task with a word limit and helpful hints, plus a model answer and a four-criteria rubric that makes marking faster and more consistent.
Ready to print, easy to check
Everything exports to two Word documents: a clean student test and a separate answer key with explanations, listening transcripts and sample writing. Both files open in Microsoft Word, so formatting tweaks take seconds. Multiple-choice options are shuffled automatically, so the right answer is not always “B”. Your questions are also saved as a JSON file, so you can review, edit and reload them before they reach the classroom.
Your choice of AI
Pick the engine that suits you: Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or a local model through Ollama. With Ollama, your lesson text never leaves your computer.
A helper, not a replacement
AI is excellent at producing a quick first draft, but you know your students best. Preview every question, fix anything that does not fit your class, and export again. It is a head start instead of a blank page.
If you spend too many evenings writing tests, English Test Generator may give some of that time back.
